I'm behind behind behind! Here's a little back-track to May 1. MORE MORE MORE (SO MUCH MORE) SOON!
May 1: Just got done with four days in Paris with La Sisteroni. We had a strict itinerary which included a lot of good good things, like: go to the photobooth at the Palais de Tokyo and take many self-portraits; eat macarons from Pierre Herme; eat a crepe with pears, caramel, and whipped cream; overindulge; buy modern art postcards; do watercolor paintings of our shoes and chocolates; take a few jumping photos; buy new shoes and wear them until the pain is too much (this was all me); walk along the Promenade Plantee and see the city from above; take portraits of handsome men holding cute babies in vintage cars (this was all Katie); stay up late every night and wonder why we’re tired the next morning; buy 20cent books all about a woman’s blond hair and J.D. Salinger in French.
K and I stayed in an apartment in Paris, like MacKenzie and I did back in February. It was all great, but we soon realized that the bed was literally as hard as the floor. It hurt to lie down. The first night, I moved to the (Ikea) couch where I froze without a blanket. I remember sleepily putting my legs into my sweater’s sleeves, forgetting that I had a pair of pants in the room next door. I huddled under my super tiny travel towel for extra warmth. Happily, things improved after that night.
Four days was too short. We did about a thousand things but we could have done a million more.
I’m writing from the train station in Grenoble. Pops and MJ are trying to get ahold of our host, who is sort of MIA. I’m looking out the window at some beautiful mountains and fluffy clouds, so no complaints. Katie chunneled to London where she’s having tea with her old English pals. After Grenoble we’ll go to Bordeaux and possibly elsewhere. In nine days I’ll be back in Minneapolis. I can’t really express how much I’d like to stay here, but I owe Minneapolis at least a visit.
