The last of the last

The end of my life in France has come and gone. WHAT???!!!!???!!!!???!!!! I still can't believe it.

I spent the first week of May with my dad and MJ traveling all over the place: Grenoble, Planfay, Gallargues-le-Montueux, Carcassonne, Brassac, Toulouse, and Paris. Dad and MJ's crazy connections allowed us to stay in a beautiful B&B in the mountains near Grenoble (WOW WOW) (THANK YOU Al & Fabricia & Marie!) and then a converted mill in the country near Toulouse. It seems like a dream now that I’m back in this wacky country.

First, les montagnes. Imagine waking up to this every day.

What do you think of that?

On our drive down south, we found a cute little town called Gallargues-le-Montueux where we had one of the best lunches probably ever.

And then to the old mill in Brassac. All art by Louis Perrin, one of our hosts!

We spent an afternoon exploring Toulouse with Louis & Nadine, our sweet hosts.

And then CASSOULET in a teensy tiny town near Louis & Nadine’s.

Whew.

We eventually trained it back to Paris (with a 2-hour delay so my return to Chauny was postponed until the next morning) where we met ANOTHER friend of Pops', this time a chef. We dined. Very well. And sang "Lean On Me" loudly in the empty restaurant. All in all, a sweet sweet sweet vacation.
