Lille

Saturday in Lille! I adore this northern city. Big but not too big, calm, lots of cobblestones and fun things to look at. One of our professor friends at the high school used to study in Lille, so we took his car and he gave us a tour. It was a bit chilly but very sunny, for which I am thankful.

Plus, I got to hang out with these two!

Lille was filled with pretty doors like this one

I was so thrilled by the doors that I grabbed Ruth's hand and we skipped down the street

 Corner apartments

Ivy ivy ivy!

Norman mastered this human-sized hamster wheel

 But I didn't

I slowed down the group when I saw things like this on the wall

Actually, the group just kept walking and I ran to catch up

There was a Carnival party going on near the market. We witnessed this Silly String fight while waiting for the parade to begin.

 Wooooooo

 Cute costume

 Sad Silly String boy

I dug this kid's cardboard box

 Raaaaarrrr!

And these girls' face paint

 SUPER SERIOUS PARTY TIME

 Checkin' out the party

 Sweet sparkly dancers

They weren't completely in sync but adorable nonetheless

I was reminded of the May Day Parade. Imagine some drumming jams happening here.

CONFETTI! We made our way through the balloon-sellers and listened to a marching band's rendition of "Gangster's Paradise"

Some old junk that I thought was particularly photogenic

Doors doors everywhere and not a drop to spare

Number 18!

MUSTARD WINDOW, so beautiful

Badass broken-down doors

TRIPLE COLOR LOVE

Norman captured my true feelings!

Someday I'll live here

<3MEAK? ME2K? M=2K? Love me two thousand? In the year two thousand? Two thousand times? Need some clarity here.

How I felt after the visit. Just kidding. I felt great! We were all tired from walking all day, but content after a meal at MacDo and a trip to the zoo. And ice cream and crêpes and gaufres, too! I love you, Lille.
